Circular Flooring Final Conference in Brussels
Brussels – On 4 July 2024, our final conference was held at the Representation of the Free State of Bavaria to the EU in Brussels to present the key findings and results of the five-year research initiative. The final conference, entitled “New products from waste PVC flooring and safe end-of-life treatment of plasticizers,” highlighted the project’s contribution to the EU’s circular economy objectives.

The consortium presented the complete recycling loop that has been established within the project: from the collection of post-consumer PVC flooring waste over the CreaSolv® Recycling Process and the catalytic hydrogenation of legacy plasticisers to new floor coverings produced from the recovered material. Industrial partners from the flooring sector demonstrated first products made with PVC recyclate from the project, and the results of the Life Cycle Assessment as well as the socio-economic analysis were presented to an audience of about 80 participants from industry, politics and research.
The programme was complemented by a panel discussion on the regulatory framework for plastic recycling in Europe, with representatives of the European Commission, the flooring industry and the project consortium. The presentations of the final conference are available in our media centre.
We would like to thank all participants and partners for five years of excellent cooperation!
